Stop I-3 Coalition encourages writing letters to congressmen

The Stop I-3 Coalition had its second working meeting on
Sunday at Nacoochee Presbyterian Church in White County. The
coalition met to review research committee reports from the
committees that formed during its first meeting, and to discuss
future plans.
During the meeting, it was pointed out that the bill that
would enact the study for the proposed interstate already
has been approved by the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate. It
is now in conference committee, where the House and Senate
bills will be combined to go ultimately to President Bush
for signature. Sen. Johnny Isakson and Congressman John Barrow
from Athens are the Georgia representatives on the conference
committee preparing the bill, which includes the I-3 study.
"It is important for everyone to write to their congressmen,
to express any concerns you may have," said Elizabeth
Wells, one of the co-chairs of the coalition.
Wells pointed out that it is especially important to make
concerns known to Barrow and Isakson, because of their role
in the conference committee.
